Pharmacy Services Overview
- Inpatient Pharmacy Services
The inpatient pharmacy operates 24/7, providing medication dispensing, preparation, and distribution. All prescriptions are thoroughly verified by pharmacists and clinical pharmacists for appropriateness before dispensing. Advanced systems like automated dispensing machines and Unit-dose systems ensure efficient and accurate medication delivery.
- Outpatient Pharmacy Services
pharmacists review all outpatient prescriptions to ensure safe and appropriate dispensation. They also provide patient counseling, educating individuals on proper medication use to enhance compliance and health outcomes.
- Intravenous (IV) Admixture Service
The IV admixture unit specializes in preparing and dispensing sterile IV medications, for inpatient wards and clinical areas. This unit is staffed by trained pharmacists and technicians who ensure precise and safe preparation.
- Narcotics and Controlled Substances Service
A dedicated narcotics room handles the safe dispensing, monitoring, and management of controlled substances in strict compliance with Qatari regulations.
- Drug Information Center
The Drug Information Center provides evidence-based medication information to healthcare providers and patients. It supports the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other clinical committees, playing a vital role in informed decision-making.
- Clinical Pharmacy Service
Clinical pharmacists are integral to the multidisciplinary healthcare team, conducting medication reviews, educating patients, and optimizing drug therapies. They participate in daily rounds, ensuring effective and individualized patient treatments.
- Medication Safety and Quality Improvement
Dedicated to promoting medication safety, the unit monitors, reports, and resolves medication-related issues. Through data collection, staff education, and strategic initiatives, it enhances medication management and minimizes errors.
- Automation and Technological Support
The pharmacy leverages advanced technologies such as robotic systems and the Cerner PharmNet application to streamline medication dispensing and tracking. Automation minimizes errors, boosts efficiency, and ensures timely delivery of medications to patients.

- Inpatient Pharmacy and IV Admixture: Available 24/7
- Narcotics Room, Pharmacy Store, and Clinical Pharmacy Service: Operates Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with on-call support for emergencies
- QRI OPD Pharmacy: Open Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
